Industrial Engineering and Management Degree Programme
The Industrial Engineering and Management Degree Programme is designed to provide graduates with a broad education that combines engineering, business, and management. Studying Industrial Engineering and Management in Oulu is multidisciplinary and solution-oriented, preparing students to tackle a wide range of real-world challenges.

Bachelor’s Degree, 180 ECTS credits
Start thinking during your very first year about which engineering industry you would like to explore and apply for summer jobs at companies in that field. What you have done in your summer jobs can be just as valuable a reason to hire you as the degree you hold. Also, consider whether you want to work in Finland after graduation, perhaps in your hometown, or if you want to go abroad for work, and apply to companies in those areas as well. The choice of engineering specialization is made during the first year, and engineering studies make up nearly 25 percent of the Bachelor’s phase.
An Industrial Engineering and Management student can complete their engineering studies in any engineering field at the University of Oulu, or at another university in Finland or abroad. Be bold in exploring options beyond the University of Oulu. The scope of the engineering studies is at least 40 ECTS credits. During the Bachelor’s phase, you can also study languages or minor study modules from the business school. However, you can only include the exact amount of credits required for the degree, which encompasses 10 ECTS credits of elective studies. Keep some kind of certificate of completion for the future for any courses that are left outside of your degree. If you have previous degrees, go to your academic advisor with your course list, and they will help you identify the courses that can be credited.

Master of Science (Technology), 120 ECTS credits
In the Master’s phase of the Industrial Engineering and Management degree program at the University of Oulu, students choose one of three specializations and deepen their expertise with suitable courses from various modules. The engineering specialization chosen during the Bachelor’s phase continues into the Master’s phase, with engineering studies comprising approximately 15 percent of the Master’s degree.
