Alumni – What Comes After Graduation?
Optiem Alumni is a network for graduates of the Industrial Engineering and Management programme at the University of Oulu. The network was established on 12 September 1998 on the initiative of active guild members. Its honorary chair is Juha Kinnunen, the first Master of Science (Technology) in Industrial Engineering and Management to graduate from the University of Oulu.
The alumni relations coordinator maintains the alumni contact register. If your contact information changes, please notify the alumni relations coordinator by email at alumnivastaava@optiem.fi. You are also welcome to send suggestions for developing alumni activities to the same address. Members have access to the alumni mailing list, optiem-alumni@lists.oulu.fi. You can join the mailing list by sending your name and email address to the alumni relations coordinator or by completing the form below. The primary goal of Optiem Alumni is to strengthen collaboration both among graduates and between students and alumni.
Over the years, alumni activities have continued to evolve. Alumni are always welcome to participate in the guild’s annual sporting events, the Wappu Sauna, the Beachiem beach volleyball tournament, the Christmas party, and after-work events. Alumni can also contribute as guest writers to Laatta, our guild magazine. Collaboration between students and alumni has also been strengthened through Optiem’s mentoring programme, which provides alumni with a valuable opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with students.
Each autumn, Optiem organizes Alumnipäivät. The event consists of a daytime programme followed by Alumni Sitz. In years when no Anniversary Ball is held, Alumni Sitz take its place.

Remember to join the University of Oulu Alumni Network. Membership is free of charge, and members receive the university’s alumni newsletter as well as invitations to alumni events.
