Structure of Industrial Engineering and Management studies
You can find the up-to-date study structure and specialization options for the Industrial Engineering and Management degree programme in Peppi. In the Bachelor’s phase, the studies include the same basic and intermediate studies for everyone (120 ECTS), engineering studies (40 ECTS), optional studies (10 ECTS), and a Bachelor’s thesis (10 ECTS). The Master’s studies in Industrial Engineering and Management consist of specialization studies (40 ECTS), complementary studies for the specialization (20 ECTS), engineering studies (20 ECTS), optional studies (10 ECTS), and a Master’s thesis (30 ECTS).
Descriptions of the engineering minor subjects and specializations can be found in the Moodle workspace TUTA Ohjuri (requires logging in with University of Oulu credentials and a password). There you can also find recommended minor subject course packages, which can, however, be modified by negotiating with your Teacher Tutor. TUTA Ohjuri also contains other materials to support your studies, so it is worth checking out. If you have any questions, the Head of Academic Affairs is happy to answer general questions, and your Teacher Tutor will help with questions related to your personal studies.

Doctoral studies
In the field of Industrial Engineering and Management, it is possible to complete both a Doctor of Science (Technology) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree, depending on your educational background. The study right for doctoral studies is applied for through the joint application process of the university’s Graduate School. Doctoral studies include general and transferable skills studies as well as discipline-specific studies. The discipline-specific studies are largely tailored according to the doctoral student’s research objectives.
